You're listening to the creative teacher podcast, a show for busy teachers looking for ways to engage, inspire and make an impact in their teacher businesses. I'm Kiersten, a teacher business owner who is all about simple and actionable tips, strategies and resources that result in wins, big or small. If you're looking for that extra spark of creativity, you've come to the right place, let's dive in together.

Hey there, today's topic is about planning and creating a viral worthy resource. There are five steps to this process, and we're going to really focus on one of them. It's the very first one and without it, you would not be going and progressing to the other steps. So I'm going to just share with you kind of what those five steps are. And we're gonna deep dive into step number one. So we have number one, have a plan. Number two, outline your resource. Number three, create the content. Number four, revise and edit the content. And number five, prepare to publish.

So we are deep diving into the first one, have a plan, a resource will sell when it's something that solves a problem for teachers. And this could mean that it's easy to use. Maybe it's minimal prep, it's standards based maybe TEKS based if you're Texas, so many other ways to solve a problem. And a viral worthy resource not only solves the problem, but it is also trending current and relevant through the topic itself. So maybe some specific current event or how the resource is used. So maybe it's an easy task card activity or it's self checking or it's digital. So I want you to consider three things when you are coming up with your big idea. And as I asked you these questions, take some time to think about it. Maybe pause Was this episode or write it down? Just don't do it while you're driving if you're listening to this in the car, but actually think about this. So here's question number one. What are your strengths? Well, this is actually a loaded questions I should say, what are your strengths? What do others already come to you for? What are you known for? So I'm going to say that again, what are your strengths? What do others already come to you for? And what are you known for? Maybe teachers love how you manage your classroom, if you're in the classroom, maybe you're known for reading or science, maybe you are really good at hand lettering, that something as that can be considered a strength that people love your advice for? Or want to know more information about from you. The second question is what is currently trending or viral among students and educators? What's Trending in social media? What's Trending in the world? What are the current events going on? That might be something that is well known among teachers, and parents and students. And the third question is, have you already created something that worked really well for your classroom, parents or other teachers that others might really like, maybe if you are in the classroom, you have this really cool strategy of teaching reading that everybody loves at your school. And maybe it could be beneficial to create that in a resource and put it in TPT. If you're not in the classroom, maybe you've posted a resource or you've done some type of activity outside of school that really worked in kids loved it, parents loved it, and they want to know, where they can find more of what you offer. So those are three things or three questions to ask yourself from there. I want you to research some trends in your niche or in the teacher community. So looking in Pinterest, social media, even going on to Google Trends, looking in news articles, research articles, to see what is in your niche, what is in your community, go ahead and write down one or two ideas of what you think might be a really great next viral resource. And just kind of indicate how the resource will have viral potential. Is it going to be viral through the topic? Or is it going to be viral through how the resource is used?
